COVID-19 enhanced Illness Benefit

The enhanced Illness Benefit for COVID-19 absences ended on Friday, 30 September 2022. After 30 September 2022, if you are advised to self-isolate due to COVID-19 and have a medical certificate from your GP, you can apply for Illness Benefit.

If you are getting COVID-19 enhanced Illness Benefit for a period before and after 30 September 2022, your payment may reduce or stop from 1 October 2022 based on your PRSI contributions. Standard Illness Benefit rates will apply from the 1 October 2022.

If you work in the civil and public sector, you do not need to apply for Illness Benefit for COVID-19 absences as separate leave arrangements are in place.
