Childcare and COVID-19
Keeping childcare and childminding services open during COVID-19 is a Government priority in line with public health advice.
Physical distancing measures such as play pods and mask wearing will no longer be required in childcare settings. However, infection prevention measures will continue, including hygiene measures and advice to stay at home if symptomatic.
Your child should not attend crèche if they have any symptoms of COVID-19. They should stay home for at least 48 hours after the symptoms have gone. Not everyone is required to do an antigen test. You can find out more about the testing requirement for COVID-19.
If your child has a confirmed COVID-19 infection, they should isolate at home for 7 days. Children aged 9 and over may also have to wear a mask.
The National Childcare Scheme can help you with the cost of childcare.
If you are having difficulty with your childcare provider or finding a childcare place you can contact the local County Childcare Committee.
