If you are a non-EEA national in Ireland, you can use your recently expired Irish Residence Permit (IRP) card and a Travel Confirmation Notice to travel abroad between 6 December 2023 and 31 January 2024. You can only do this if your application to renew your immigration permission was submitted before the expiry date on your IRP Card.

The Government has agreed changes to the supports for people coming from Ukraine covered by the EU Temporary Protection Directive. These changes will come into effect early in 2024. The Christmas 2023 absence policy allows you to be absent from your accommodation, from 22 December 2023 to 8 January 2024, without making an absence request.

On 11 December 2023, an Interim Remediation Scheme was launched to fund work to fix emergency fire safety issues in apartments and duplexes that were built between 1991 and 2013.

The Personal Injuries Assessment Board has changed its name to the Injuries Resolution Board. They also now offer mediation as a way of dealing with personal injuries claims.

From January 2024, your waste collection company must provide a brown bin collection service. This will apply to all households in Ireland, except households on off-shore islands.
