National Quality Standard Award for leisure and fitness facilities
The National Quality Standard Award (previously known as the White Flag Award) is a national quality standard for leisure and fitness facilities that have been operating for more than 6 months. The award looks at safety, hygiene, customer engagement and human resources. It is based on the international Blue Flag award scheme and emphasises continuous improvement and high standards across 250 criteria.
The National Quality Standard is run by Ireland Active.
Criteria for awarding the National Quality Standard
Facilities must meet certain criteria in relation to:
- Facility exterior and grounds
- Facility interior
- Environmental management
- Education and information
- Water quality and treatment.
