Christmas Bonus payments of social welfare
A Christmas Bonus is paid in early December each year to people getting certain long-term social welfare payments. The Bonus is paid at the same rate as your weekly social welfare payment, which means you get a double payment that week. The Supplementary Budget April 2009, announced that the Christmas Bonus will not be paid in 2009.

Voluntary work and social welfare payments
If you want to keep your social welfare payment and do some voluntary work, you must follow the rules set down by the Department of Social and Family Affairs. Find out more.
